    The Black bird and the Thrushes.
    I picked wild flowers with friends among.
    I flirted in the garden.
    And kissed a girl of twenty one.
    Who wore a Dolly Varden.
    Ah would that I should not forget
    Tho' now an old New Yorker
    The trees I climbed and ball.
    I played at fairy haunted Corker.
    Good bye old fields and fairy dells.
    Good bye; ah yes for ever.
    For something whispers in my ears
    Will meet again, oh never.
    But in my dreams my spirits will.
    Take flight across the ocean.
    And wander o'er moor and hill.
    Where dwells my hearts devotion.
    This was composed by Mr. mc Cormack Carrokeel, Tulsk. About sixty years ago when he was in New York. He was then describing his young days Ireland and praising his native home. One day as he began reflecting on [struck out in ink: "that"] the past just a memory struck him about the beauty spots at home. For some time before he left he had a lovely sweet heart, a girl by the name of Delia Croghan. to whom he refars in this song. He had been gone a time by this and was of course a real old Yorker
