One day a grainneog and a hare had a quarrel. The grainneog said he was a faster runner than the hare. The hare laughed at him and called him 'a cripple.' At last they agreed to meet in a certain potato field the day following and they both would run back and forth in the furrows and to see which of them would reach the headlands first.
When the hare was gone the grainneog went to another grainneog. "My friend" said he "my old enemy the hare called me a cripple today. Will you help me punish him" "I will" answered the second grainneog "but what can I do to him" "Well" returned the first grainneog(continues on next page)- Collector
