In the Penal Days when the priests were hunted one of them was saying Mass on Cnoc Camtha at Lough Ine about five miles from Skibbereen. When the priest saw the soldiers coming he ran away and one of them followed him. Both horse and solider fell down over a big cliff and were killed. It is known as "Soldier's Hill".- Collector
