  1. Being farmers, we have a churn at home. It is about four feet in height, and the top and bottom are about two feet wide. The sides are curved-shaped. It is about twenty four years old. The various parts are the mouth plate, the "vent" plug and the buttermilk plug.
    The mouth plate is used for covering the hole through which the cream is put. This hole is called the "mouth" of the barrel.
    The "buttermilk" plug is a smaller, long round piece of timber which covers another hole which the buttermilk flows through.
    Similar to this is the "vent" plug, which is a little smaller. This plug is used to leave out
