Leabaidh imeasc na n-aingeal is na naoimh i bflaitheas Dé go raibh dá anam - Towering in the lofty grandeur high above the Bay, and conspicuous amidst the mountain scenery which here lends so much beauty as a background to the landscape, is Hungry Hill, with Sugar Loaf Mountain to the right. At the foot of those mountains there lived, some years ago, a peculiar people called the Ranties. The men were hardy and stalwart, the women, when in holiday attire, were, were dressed in red cloaks and caps, the material of which they made and dyed; some said they obtained the dye from a univalve they found adhering to the rocks.
