- (continued from previous page)boxty - bread, oaten - meal bread. Milk was used for making the bread, and water for kneading. They used to make bread every day. A cross was cut on the top of the cake. Some of the bread was baked in a pot - oven and some standing against the fire.
- Bread was made of wheat in former times. Potato cake was made and oaten - meal bread by the fire standing against the stone. When the cake is made the marks that are on the top of it is a cross.
