    Up to the famine the houses and people were very numerous but horrors of famine and fever destroyed most of those families and the few that survived were forced to seek their living in foreign climes.
    There is still a tower to be seen in the townland of Tureen. It was supposed to built in the year nineteen hundred, in order to protect the coast from foreign invaders.
