It's all about the Memphis,
That was wrecked in Dunlough Bay,
From Montreal to Bristol,
Was speeding on her way.

When the Memphis - she left Montreal,
The weather was calm and fine,
Said the Captain to his officers,
We'll have a pleasant time.
Before they reached the Irish coast,
There came a heavy fog,
The captain lost his reckoning
Through an error in the Log.

They lowered the Starboard Lifeboat.
And they got her fully manned.
Before she reached the rigging
The after-tackle jammed.
The foreman went down by the run,
