    road and leads to a place then called Spike. A dwelling house is now built on that passage but the old people say that it is unlucky to do so. The road is now used as a "bóitirín" but a part of it is taken in with newly made fields. The road was not of much use as another road ran parallel to it about one hundred yards away. This road was called the "board of work road."

    Another road ran parallel to the board of work road which leads to the Cos-a-mhuine road past the fort. An old man can remember that by-way. He says that it took months to make it and it was covered with large flags as the soil was of a turfy nature. Horses
