Song
“As I went out walking one morning in Spring”
As I went out walking one morning in Spring,
For to hear the birds whistle and the night-ingales sing,
I spied a young damsel and the song she did sing.
I'm going to be married next Monday morning.
2
I stepped up beside her and to her I did say;
"How old are you now my pretty fair maid;"
"In here in those valleys, those valleys so green
I'll be fifteen years old next Monday morning.
3
"Fifteen years old is too young for to marry,
Take five years more for to tarry,
For marriage brings trouble and sorrows begin;
So put off your marriage next Monday morning."
