"The lore of Certain Days" Contd.
is told in this following way in this locality. Nine warm days came in March and the old cow boasted that she was safe for another year as the cold days of winter were over. She rushed about the field boasting that her troubles were over for the time being. April came in, the first nine days were cold and hard and the boastful cow died of cold and starvation.
Some years ago I used to hear an old man repeat the following; "March will search, April will try and May will prove". He meant that if a person were not in good health, March would search, April would try and May would prove if the person would live for another year.
