  1. Long ago all the people used go to Millstreet fair on the sixth of January, which is the start of shrove "to put their name on the book" as they intended to look for a suitable partner in marriage.
    The parties that tried to get married and did not succeed in doing so were supposed to go to kiss the Sceilig's Rocks as a punishment for not getting married.
