   later this man was squeezing a rope on a load of hay; the rope broke and he was pitched off the load and falling on his head broke his neck. The grave-diggers removed a coffin and placed his coffin underneath; so that was the farm and the eviction.

   Andrew O'Neill, P.O. Newmarket told me:-

   In the townland of Lisdangan already mentioned in this book, there is a field not far from a cottage occupied by James Kelly, where several people have heard the playing of a football at night, hearing the thud of the ball on the ground and the shuffling of people but unable to see anything.

   Daniel Halliden High Street Newmarket who is a native of Banteer told me:-

   That at Duincha - a townland near Banteer, there lived a woman named Mrs Kennedy who when her child was born was carried off by the fairies.
   She used to return afterwards at midnight to caress the child in the cradle; her husband got his brother
