    Ah me, what gladsome memories dear.
    Drift back to mind once more.
    Recalling of the many lines of "Herald Days" of yore.
    Sweet lines that whispered of the past.
    And joys brought back again.
    They bring a solace to my heart.
    A gladness tinged with pain.

    The glowing praise of vanished day's
    McAuliffe's Castle grand.
    Of ivied towers and Woodland bowers
    That gem Sweet Motherland.
    Of ancient mounds with shamrocks crowned
    And daisies pathways too.
    And dew bespangled mossy banks
    By winding old Dalua.

    Where D. D. wove his themes of love.
    Those simple past'rl lines.
    That circle round my hearth to night
