- Porridge - A bone of beef was boiled in hot water. When it was an hour boiling the woman got some of the broth and mixed it with some of the oaten meal and it was again puttdown boiling. She then chopped up a head of cabbage and an onion to flavour. She put it near the fire and put down the potatoes and when they were boiled every person gets a bowl of porridge.(continues on next page)
