- There was one of the "Connells" behind there who was out early walking around his land of a May morning and he found a spancel thrown on the field. He brought it home and threw it up in the loft. It was failing them to make any butter afterwards until a knowing woman (a traveller) came into them one day and they told him their story. She asked if he did this or that or is had had anything in the house that should not have been there. The man remember the spancel and he took it down and threw it in the fire. It was cracking and jumping and sparks flew around the house from it. They thought it would burn the house. The making of the butter was alright afterwards.
