There is a hidden treasure in the Ballalley in the townland of Coolromore in the Parish of Banteer. It was placed there by the Danes because they were going to be killed. Attempts have been to get it but they couldn't. A black pig followed them. The supposed treasure is gold it consists of £10,000. Buried gold or such treasure has never been discovered in our District. No tradition has been connected with the Danes. There is no light seen where the treasure is hidden.
