    4. Some people used to leave bread on the table during the night to be blessed by Saint Brigid, and the legend attached to the custom was:-
    "A poor man, at whose house the Saint called and asked for some bread to eat, had but very little for himself, but gave her what he had. Shortly after he was astonished when he found his cupboard plentifully supplied with bread."
