  1. The fairies are supposed to be out that night. November Eve is the end of the fruit season. People celebrate apples and nuts. Children celebrate it in many ways. They hang an apple from the ceiling and try to take a bite out of it without catching it with their hands. A tub is filled with water, and a coin is dropped in, children find great fun in diving for it, whoever succeeds in getting the coin keeps it. A barm brack is bought and cut up and divided amongst the family. The brack contains a ring, a stick, a rag, a pea, and a bean, whoever get the the ring is to be married the first, the one who gets the rag is supposed to be dressed in rags, whoever gets the stick he is to beat you with it, whoever gets the bean is to be very rich,
