    Who would give his wealth to own the brain
    Concealed 'neath his old hat

    And always did maintain
    Until there came upstairs one day
    His sister's son "Tom Lane"

    Sometimes indeed Tom seemed a saint
    And might with saints abide
    But still the master always held
    He had the d - l inside.
