    a load of hay up a hill when his horse failed and he used to carry a plough on his shoulder to the forge. At the forge he often took the anvil with one hand and held it behind his back while the smith was looking round. It is related that he was able to throw the sledge farther than the famous William Murphy of Liscarroll.
