- Lord Barrymore lived in the castle near the creamery. He was a Saxon tyrant. He put many people to death. He had a body-guard of fifty soldiers. The doors of the stables can yet be seen at the Stables Cross. He is buried in a vault in Castlelyons graveyard. During the Tan war the military entered the tomb and smashed his coffin and scattered his bones.
