  1. There are three shoemakers in this district and those are, Mr Connolly, Mr Ward and Mr Fahy. Mr Connolly and Mr Ward are living in Lisgoold and Mr Fahy is living near Castle-lyons. Long ago the people used to get their boots made by the shoemakers because they were better than shop boots. Also in olden days if the people washed their feet and if any member of the family was out and if that person was not in before the other members went to bed they would not throw out the feet-water but they would put as red cinder into it and leave it in the house until morning.
