    him. There was one thing he hated, and that was to give anybody a night's shelter in the castle, and he often boasted that if he saw a poor man drying with the cold he wouldn't leave him in. Now in olden times there was a belief that a ghost roamed around at night called Jackie the Lantern, and that anybody he ever gave a message to should comply with his wish or he wouldn't live long. There was a poor man who wanted a week's lodging, and he asked several locals, who would gladly take him in if they had accommodation. They sent him to the castle and he was refused, so he thought of a plan. He got in touch with some of the servants who left a back window int he castle partly open. He returned again later in the night with a lantern and knocked at the hall door of the castle. The
