   Basket making was a thriving little industry in Ringaskiddy over 100 years ago and for years after They were made for local use and for sale. The usual price 80 to 100 years ago was 2 pence or [?] pence. Thick twigs were got these were pointed at one end. The pointed ends were stuck in the ground making the shape of the basket required. Thinner twigs were plaited in and out between the thicker ones until the basket was deep enough. The tops of the thick twigs were bent and the thin twigs plaited round them to form the bottom of the basket.
