    drills.
    After about a month the young stalks come up. Then he scuffles the drills and if there are weeds around the stalks he hoes them. Then he furrow-stones them to break whatever lumps are in the furrows and “rises” to them with the double-board plough. After a while he “rises” to them again. He then leaves them grow for a while.
    At the end of that time he sprays with bluestone and washing soda dissolved in water. If the weather is damp and foggy he sprays them again.
