- In the parish of Castlemahon there is a holy well. It is called Baptist well. The water of this well is cold in the Summer and warm during the Winter season. There is a wytchelm growing over the Well and ribbons beads and medals are hung off its branches. The pattern day is the 29th of August. It is said that is was St Patrick that struck the rock there and ever since the well is coming from the rock. The sign of the Saints Knee is still to be seen on the rock.(continues on next page)
