    not to go near the tool-box. The other lad told him not to near the chair for he woud stick to it. His father came to beat Jacky, ah go easy a while said Jacky I must make an apple cake; go out for a few apples. Out he went and he stuck to the apple tree. Jacky got the stick again and he nearly killed him, they were all afraid of him then. They had to get another job for him then. They gave him a lantern and anyone that would be going astray he'd put them on the right road. One night he met a man and the man was at Jacky. Then Jacky started to put them astray from that out. That is how he got his name Jacky the Lantern.
