  2. The Man from Ardagh.
    There was a man and his wife, living in Ardagh, and they lived there in the time of the famine. They were very poor, and badly off. so one night the man said to his wife that he should go out and earn his living. He started off early the next morning and he was searching all that day. About nightfall he came across a public house, and he went in for a drink with his last sixpence. While he was having the drink, he saw a notice hanging on the wall, and on the notice.
