- It is few places in the parish of Feenagh that have not got its own historical name. Gurtalassa which means the field of the forts got its name from the numerous from that surrounds it. Cloncrippa is supposed to have got its name from a great battle which must have occurred in that place because it means the field of the corpses. Gurteen which is east of Feenagh got its name from a notable flower-garden which was always kept in perfect order. Kilmurry which means thePupil has left school, hence esay is unfinished (A O'Grady)
