  1. These are some of the cures the people used when there was no doctor or chemists shops to be had.
    An embrocation for rheumatism is, vinegar, turpentine and the white of some eggs.
    A cure for a severe attack of jaundice is, to go out in the morning and dig ten worms, throw away one and boil the nine others in some milk and give it to the patient for nine mornings fasting.
    A cough cure is to get some flax, lemons, candy, and sugar and some water and drank by the patient when the severe attack of cough comes on.
    A cure for sore eyes is to bathe the eyes in cold tea every morning.
