- Old people tell the following story about the hen. When the soldiers were looking for Our Lord on the eve of the Crucifixion they did not know at first where to find Him. The hen is supposed to have made known to them where Our Lord was. On account of betraying the Saviour thus the hen cannot stay out in the rain as her feathers will not keep for her day. Before the hen betrayed Our Lord to the soldiers the feathers were waterproof like those of a duck.
