    filled they were placed in a cool place and left there for a day or two. The wick was then loosened at the bottom of the mould and the candle or candles were drawn out. If more fat was available another group of candles were placed in the mould to set.
    These home made candles were a dark yellow colour and somewhat bigger than the candles we have nowadays. They did not show very good light but when nothing else except rush-lights was to be had the people were quite satisfied with these candles.
