- The Local Forge.There is only one forge in this parish at present but there are the remains of two or three. The only one still in use is that of Jim Quinlivan of Ballinaguile.In Kilfinny the forge was the property of the Conway family who plied their trade there for two or three generations. They were considered very good tradesmen and were kept busy. The family is now extinct. The old forge was remodelled into a cowhouse and is now the property of Thomas Pigott. it was built facing Ballinakill road. It was erected with brown stone brought from Knockfierna and was roofed with slate. It had an ordinary doorway with three open windows and one fireplace at the far end. There were two anvils as there were often three men working a them. Their bellows were the old type, heart shaped and covered with leather. The weren't made locally but(continues on next page)
