    used to eat a great many eggs. Long ago on St. Johns Eve there would be a bonfire on every hill. On November Even the children used to play snap-apple. They would have an apple in a pan of water and whoever took a bite out of it would get it all. On the first of April it was a common thing to be made a fool of. Long ago all the young boys and girls chalked all the men and women who should be married and were not on a certain day of the year. this day was called Chalk Sunday.
