John went to the Post Office to wire the result to the Solicitor and he told his story to the Postmistress & warned her to make the telegram as short as possible. Knowing her client she said "tell me yourself what I am to say" and John said just say "Take Steps" he'll understand what I mean says John. The telegram went.
Later on the same day John and the neighbour met again and perhaps under the influence of a drop it was easier to settle the dispute. They came to an agreement and John had to go again to the Post Office to acquaint his solicitor. He told his story again and now says he "You must sent another wire for me now." What will I say now John" says she. Tell him - Stand back" says John, he'll understand that. - Story told by Mr. J. Walsh Ballylanders - aged 80 years.
A boy stole in through an underground channel to an orchard and as he was getting out of the channel the farmer was there on the spot. "Where are you going you young blackguard" says he. "Back again" said the garsún.- Informant
