(continued from previous page)woman had a young family some years ago and if she died for it she could not get a drop of milk for them in the district. However in the evening she persuaded one woman to give her some milk but the woman first put salt in it to kill the pishogue.On no account would you be allowed to take water from a neighbours well on that day or allowed to let your horse drink water from it. People always made crosses of sticks and placed them in the well on that day. If you wanted to bring bad luck to your neighbour's stock all you had to do was to throw a dead body over the boundary or bury a body in his land.Many farmers were often years before they could make butter. If they were turning the barrel until now all that would be in would be froth and a frightful smell when the barrel was opened up. Others always had this smell in their dairies.
