    sides and grassy summit garlanded with ivy together with its sad history of those penal days when the outlawed priest officiated within its silent cavern renders it an object of interest. Croker mentions that the Cave in the Mass Rock was supposed to be the entrance to a beautiful chapel concealed in the interior and that he heard a tale which he doubted that Dr. Geoffrey Keating, the historian, officiated at the Rock.
    The leaba Diarmuda agus Gráinne is described as follows by Lenihan in the "Tipperary Vindicator";
    "On' the S.E. side of the lake are giant graves 16' 8' long 5',5' wide and 2' over the surface. The sides are formed by eight flagstones and covered by four flagstones some of them 3 tons in weight. At the head or west of this grave is part of the continuance of the second, two of the side stones of which are still standing, and one has lately come down!
