    It is supposed locally that milk left after a ferret cures a heavy cold. One child in this district had a heavy cold and whooping cough and he took the milk for two weeks and it cured him. On such occasions an extra amount of milk is given to the ferret and then what he leaves is given to the sick person.
    When a goose is killed the fat is taken from the inside. It is put up on the hearth and is kept to rub to boots it is supposed to preserve the leather and keep the boots from getting damp.
    Little boys look forward to the day of "the killing of the pig". They usually remain at home from school so as to be sure to get the bladder. They hang it up on the chimney until it is very dry.
