- St Odran is the patron Saint of our parish. He was born in Toomevara he was the son of the McGraiks. He built a monastery in Latteragh and had 3,000 scholars remarkable for their learning and piety. There is a holy well in Latteragh and there is an eel in the well and he is white about the neck and all the rest of him is brown it is said that the eel in the well is St Odran.There is a round stone outside the well and it cures a pain in the head, there is also a cure for toothache and many other complaints. St Odran died on the 2nd of October 548.(continues on next page)
