    the furniture was sold.
    One man bought some farm implements. He put them all in a cart. On his way home he saw they were smoking. There was no flame. He tried to extinguish the fire but did not succeed. He met a woman who had bought a bucket at Maher's auction. It was also smoldering away. When they reached home the things they had bought at the auction were in ashes.
    Maher's auction was the talk of the neighbourhood for a long time.
