- (continued from previous page)Suir, Co Tipperary, in Templemore Co Tipperary in the year 1845. These sports were largely attended. A prize of three pounds was awarded to him. This man could lift one barrel and a half of wheat on his back.
- Patrick Burke, Ballaboy, in the townland of Ballaboy, parish of Upperchurch, Co. Tipperary, a well known Tipperary jumper, attended many sports in the district. He was born in the year 1858, and died the year 1914. At these sports a good many other jumpers challenged him, but he bet them all.This man jumped twenty-one feet in a long jump, and six feet in height. He was able to jump rivers and chasms measuring about twenty-two feet in width.In a sports in Nenagh, in Co. Tipperary, in the year 1886 he competed and beat some great jumpers.
