- 4. The best known of them are "Mary Forty Bags", Danie from Newport, the Tuohys and Neddie the Pluckie. The family of travellers that most frequently visit our district are the Tuohys. They tell stories and bring news from distant parts of the country.

- Some of these travelling people made their own articles others of them bought them in Limerick and other towns. The people of the district used to put up beds for them in barns, and if the weather was very cold they would let them into the kitchen. The people used to give them their meals while they would stay. The Mc.Carthys and the Tuohys were the best known of them. They generally came before Christmas.
