    I
    How varied are the thoughts that sport
    And play on poet's brain,
    And one and other chase away
    Like sun-clouds on the plain;
    What airy structures there are built!
    What citadels are planned,
    And destined but to fade away
    As figures traced on sand.

    Imagination paints for him
    A scene of right delight
    Of emerald hill and woodland glade
    Where crystal brooklets glide,
    Past meadows decked byh Flora's self
    And peopled by the glow,
    Of animating fancy when
