- 1. John Dunne (1813-1890) taught in the present Poulacapple School for a number of years. He resided at Quirkes of Poulacapple. His nephew, Cahill, is still living in Poulacapple.2. A schoolmaster popularly known as "Half-head Flynn" who died about 1860 taught Bishop Brennan of Ballycullen. Flynn lived at Michael Mullally's of Chapel Street, Mullinahone.3. James Brennan a schoolmaster, who is buried in Cloneen taught in Ballycullen and Cloneen. The original inscription in French on his tombstone was in the form of a geometrical pun (a triangle) dealing with the course of human life.4. Greek was taught among other subjects by some itinerant teacher at Ballylanigan in 1826.(continues on next page)
