    The old church of Cruachán Magh Abhna (Croghan-Moy-Owney) was situated in the townland of Croghane Lower, on the side of a valley, but all the walls are now destroyed down to the very foundations, but from those it can be ascertained that it, or part of it, was 28 feet in length and 22 feet in breath. The walls were built of slaty stones, cemented with lime and sand and mortar. Its graveyard which is a large one, is still in use, but it contains no ancient monument. (Since the time O'Donovan wrote a Protestant place of worship has been erected on the site of the old Catholic Church.)
    "About 150 yards to the north of this graveyard there is a holy well called after the virgin, St. Sinech, the patroness of Cruachan Moy-Owney, but no stations have been performed at it these 30 years. It is now (26th September 1840) run dry, but it will come to in winter again."
