“A Mrs Ryan once owned the farm on which Ballyharst fort is situated.”
A Mrs Ryan once owned the farm on which Ballyhurst fort is situated. About the year 1864, Mrs. Ryan was driving down the cows past the fort. She heard a child crying there, and she asked "what's wrong with the child"? She got the answer that he was hungry so she said "milk one of the cows, and feed him." From that out, every evening one of the cows turned in to the fort and was milked.- Collector
