  2. In olden times fairs used not to be held in towns as they are to-day, but instead they were held in a field in some district.
    In Ballyhurst in a place about two and a half miles away from this school there was an important Fair Field. This field is on the main road from Tipperary to Kilfeacle and about a quarter of a mile from the latter place. It is in Mr. Gavin's farm.
