- Old Houses:-
1. In olden times nearly all the houses were watched. When the rafters were put on scraws were sewn on to them with sugáins. Then the first pair of straw was put on in the same manner. Then the seed was put on and held on with scalops. The chimney was made with wattles and (..). This was dangerous because if a spark flew from the fire and lodged in the chiminy it would take fire and burn the house.
2. Long ago the walls of the houses were made of mud and straw. The mud was put on in lairs and between each lair straw was spread.
