There was once a man living up in Cullen called Diarmuid. He made his living by making candles. He used get the tallow from Roscrea. One time he went and he thought it was tallow that he was bringing home but when he opened the tin of tallow he found it was gold he had. He went back again and the next time he brought home more gold again. He went and brought home gold each time. Soon he became a very richman and bought all the land around Tipperary and evicted the tenants that were on it. He built very big houses for himself. But it is said he died a very poor man. The place where he lived is known as Diarmuid villa. He is buried in Cullen graveyard.
